The Moon Bunny's First Night Watch

A tiny moon bunny learns that being gentle can be brave too.

High above the sleepy hills, where the moon kept a silver blanket over the world, lived a small bunny named Milo. Milo had ears soft as clouds and paws quiet as snow.

Every night, the moon animals took turns watching over children while they slept. The owl counted dreams. The fox chased away cold winds. The hedgehog tucked fallen stars back into the sky.

Tonight was Milo's first turn.

"What if I am too little?" he whispered.

The moon smiled. "Then watch in a little way. Little kindness still reaches far."

So Milo hopped from cloud to cloud. When he saw a child frowning in sleep, he brushed a moonbeam across the window. The room glowed softly. The child's face became peaceful again.

When a lost dream floated away like a soap bubble, Milo caught it gently and guided it home.

By morning, Milo was tired, but the moon was proud.

"You watched beautifully," said the moon.

Milo yawned and curled into a crescent-shaped cloud. "I only did small things."

"Small gentle things," said the moon, "are exactly what bedtime needs."

And while the sun climbed up, Milo fell asleep, dreaming of silver blankets and quiet paws.
